Early November loch report & Inter-club Pairs Day
Hi All,
We hope that this update finds you all in good health and that you’ve been enjoying the cracking last couple of months of the season. Apart from 3 days of stormy weather it’s been unusually warm with light winds and the catching has been good for many anglers.
Fishing the margins has been productive at times, particularly if you’ve been brave enough to chance the dries. Ronnie Glass can testify to this having had 12 fish to yellow owls and grunters in the 3 hour afternoon session of the inter club pairs day. Sadly he and his boat partner, Robbie Bell fishing as Coldstream AC missed out on the top spot, which this year went to Steve Kelley and Keith Roe representing Ashington King Fishers with James and Joy Gardiners securing third place for The Happy Hookers. On the day, 83 fish were landed giving a rod average of over 5 per angler in a total of 6 hours fished. Not bad I would say! We have posted a couple of pictures from the day on the loch reports as we can’t include them through the Clubmate platform.
Top flies on the day were,: Olive mini snake, red apps bloodworm, yellow owl and grunters.
Fish were caught in all areas of the loch but perhaps the best of the catching was at the reed bed end of the loch and around the margins on the north shore.
With the settled period of weather and four more weeks to the end of our season (closing day is Monday 30th November) there is still lots of opportunity to come and enjoy some superb fishing, and we hope to see many of you in the coming weeks.
