Charity Day 2025
Lad(y)s and Dads Charity Day 2025
Was it the best one ever? Some might say that it was.
Certainly in terms of the amount raised then there was no question. With all the various donations that we received, revenue from the day which includes the entry fee, raffle and auction, and the amount raised via the paintings raffle we managed to raise a staggering:
£2,786
Not a bad effort for our little one day event and we would once again like to say a big thank you to all those that contributed and helped, to make it possible.
The weather was once again very favourable and we would like to think that Alastair Crowe was looking down on us and had a hand in organizing such lovely conditions. It was the first time that Alastair was not there to participate in the day and to receive the contribution on behalf of the Lifeboat which made the day very poignant to say the least. The funds raised were acknowledged though by Lifeboat crew members Richard and Julie, who made a very lovely speech on behalf of St. Abbs and very kindly awarded us with a certificate and sweatshirts in acknowledgement of the many years that we have been supporting such a worthy local cause. As it said on the certificate we have been supporting them from the very beginning and will continue to do so for as long as we are able to.
The event this year was won once again by the Dads team which now takes the score to Dads 7.5, Lad(y)s 4.5. Clearly the Lad(y)s team needs to pull their finger out next year to try to close the gap as the Dads are becoming way too confident and we need to see the Lad(y)s name on the “L” of a Length Trophy once more.
The best rod for the Lad(y)s was Owen Palmer with 7 fish
The best rod for the Dads was James Gardiner with 9 fish
And
The best fly pattern was a Yellow FAB tied and supplied by James Gardiner
As we often stated before, this event is the highlight of the year for Carmel and I and it is so nice to see so many people enjoy the day and have fun. It is so great to see people entering in to the spirit of the day, enjoying the occasion but also not taking things too seriously. This was always how it was intended to be. Thank you all.
Carmel & Gareth
Once again you can view the day with some fantastic photos taken by our roving eye, Dave Walley…thank you Dave as always!
