Fishery Rules

RULES:

  • Strictly conventional fly fishing with artificial fly only. Anyone fishing by any other method will be banned.
  • Tickets must be purchased before fishing.
  • Rod permits and bag limits are not transferable and rod sharing is not allowed.
  • Children (under 16 years old) must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Life Jackets or Buoyancy Aids must be worn at all times when in the boats.
  • Fishing times are 8.30am -5pm in spring and autumn and the fishery closes at 10pm during the summer months.
  • Single hooks only, no larger than size 10 (standard or longshank) – no doubles, tandems or trebles allowed and barbless or de-barbed hooks should be used at all times.
  • Trolling is strictly forbidden.
  • Fishing with one rod only at any one time, but additional rods may be carried ‘tackled up’ ready for use.
  • All brown trout are to be returned to the water
  • The use of conventional anchors is forbidden.
  • Landing boats is only permitted at the Jetties. Boats must not be ‘beached’
  • Boats are to be left clean and litter free.
  • Anglers are asked to record all fish caught by correctly filling in the book provided. If no fish are caught please record a ‘nil’ return.
  • Fish must never be gutted or cleaned in the loch.
  • Anyone, without exception, discarding litter including fishing line and cigarette ends into or around the loch will be asked to leave. Please use bins provided.
  • In the event of lightning and thundery conditions all anglers both bank and boat must leave the water immediately.
  • Electric outboards only.
  • No alcohol on the boats.
  • No camping, lighting of fires, swimming.
  • Anglers that disregard the rules will be asked to leave the fishery.

ADVISORY:

  • Mud weights are provided in all boats. These should be dropped ‘end on’, so that they plunge vertically into the mud, to ensure a firm anchorage.
  • Nets are supplied for both boat and bank fishing.
  • Anglers are expected to treat the boats and equipment with care (anglers will be liable for damages due to non- compliance of rules) – studded waders should not be worn in the boats or fishing hut.
  • Please use the toilet facilities provided.
  • Anglers are advised not to stand up in the boats.
  • It is advised not to wade beyond waist deep.
  • Anglers are asked to keep a ‘polite’ distance apart and not to start fishing close to others unless specifically invited to do so – similarly, make as little noise and disturbance as possible. Boats are asked to give clear space for bank anglers at all times.
  • Anglers are requested to use balanced tackle and not to use finer nylon than necessary (6 lbs B.S. should be regarded as a minimum for most purposes).
  • Dogs are allowed only at the discretion of the management and must be kept out of the water.
  • In the event of strong winds anglers are advised to check conditions at the fishery by phoning the loch before leaving home.

We thank you for adhering to the above regulations and encourage people to report anyone not abiding by the rules of the loch.

CONDITIONS:

  • No liability is accepted for any accident or injury to persons visiting the fishery or for loss or damage to their property.
  • Anglers are liable to pay the replacement cost of any equipment lost or damaged when in breach of the rules.
  • The management reserve the right to refuse or terminate admission to the fishery at any time without giving reasons.
  • Management reserve the right to perform random inspections of tackle and catches (please do not be offended).
  • Management reserve the right to amend the rules at any time
